Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By examining the novels of critically and commercially successful authors such as Sarah Dessen (Someone Like You), Stephenie Meyer (the Twilight series), and Laurie Halse Anderson (Speak), Reading Like a Girl: Narrative Intimacy in Contemporary American Young Adult Literature explores the use of narrative intimacy as a means of reflecting and reinforcing larger, often contradictory, cultural expectations regarding adolescent women, interpersonal relationships, and intimacy. Reading Like a Girl explains the construction of narrator-reader relationships in recent American novels written about adolescent women and marketed to adolescent women. Sara K. Day explains, though, that such levels of imagined friendship lead to contradictory cultural expectations for the young women so deeply obsessed with reading these novels. Day coins the term “narrative intimacy” to refer to the implicit relationship between narrator and reader that depends on an imaginary disclosure and trust between the story’s narrator and the reader. Through critical examination, the inherent contradictions between this enclosed, imagined relationship and the real expectations for adolescent women’s relations prove to be problematic. In many novels for young women, adolescent female narrators construct conceptions of the adolescent woman reader, constructions that allow the narrator to understand the reader as a confidant, a safe and appropriate location for disclosure. At the same time, such novels offer frequent warnings against the sort of unfettered confession the narrators perform. Friendships are marked as potential sites of betrayal and rejection. Romantic relationships are presented as inherently threatening to physical and emotional health. And so, the narrator turns to the reader for an ally who cannot judge. The reader, in turn, may come to depend upon narrative intimacy in order to vicariously explore her own understanding of human expression and bonds.

Book excerpt: Everyone has a story to tell, and I selected to tell my story through my blog formerly called: Monday Morning Bluees, which is an acronym for "Believe Life Uses Everyone and Everything Spiritually." I have endured many hurts, mistakes, lessons, pains, failures, heartbreaks, disappointments, hardships, and struggles throughout my life, but I have also been on the receiving end of countless success stories, miracles, breakthroughs, victories, accomplishments, awards, accolades, and other blessings. I have come to accept that life is filled with polarities, and I came to this time-space reality to experience All of life including both its ups and its downs, (mostly ups). I am learning that I gain strength and momentum when I go through uncomfortable situations, circumstances, and experiences. Reflecting on my lifes story allows me an opportunity to release and heal my past. I now have a greater appreciation for where I have been, a warm acceptance and peace for where I am presently; and a clearer perspective on where I am going. My intention for this work is to shed light on issues that many females face and provide comfort in knowing that we are not alone on this journey I call Life.

Book excerpt: "It is a real treat to find a series of police procedurals with a steamy, gritty, real-life type drama such as these. I am really looking forward to the rest of the series coming out." Reviewer - Charles Smith "This book should come with a warning label that says, *Do not read if you have a heart condition*." Reviewer - Rhonda H . **Note: This book contains a major cliffhanger, and just like your favorite television show, we want you to come back for more. This series is one continual investigation with several very intense crimes that can not be done justice to in between the covers of one book. In Love Inked... Detective Kali Mann returns from leave to find a new partner assignment. Not only is she bitter about recent events, but she’s irritated to be saddled with the model-beautiful rookie detective Evelyn Harper. What’s worse, Evie doesn’t just want to be partners—she’s striving to make them friends. Another brutal Serial Killer is in town, and Evie finds that she has a lot to learn, especially when it comes to her new partner. Evie is not deterred, in fact, she’s determined to fit in and earn Kali’s respect, and maybe calm the waters between Kali and Detective Sergeant Greg Shavers in the process. As Kali and Evie find their footing and search for clues to the recent murder, an explosion rocks their police family, and Kali and Evie team up with others to find the culprits responsible. An action-packed full-length novel that takes you through the streets of Philly as you ride-along with Detectives Kali Mann and Evie Harper while they deal with crime, tragedy, and new romances. The Twisted Love Series: The Series consists of nine stories overall. Two novellas start the series: Love Lorn (Manemann) and Love Torn (Eaton), and four full-length novels co-written between the two authors. The four full-length novels are action-packed as Evie and Kali find a way to work together and solve a series of brutal murders, while investigation other cases along the way. While the books are stand-alone, reading them in order will give you the best understanding of what is happening as the serial murder case will last through all four full-length novels. Book excerpt: In my four hundred years, I’ve learned three very important things... First, my kind, vampires, aren’t the worst things you humans share this world with. Second, true love has the ability to lift you up so high you can almost see the gates of Heaven…or destroy you so utterly that there’s nothing left of your heart but ashes. And last but not least, never, ever, trust a blood witch. I should have known Shea O'Hare was up to something the second the word ‘favor’ came out of her mouth. I was an easy target, I’ll admit. She had something I wanted, something only she could give me, and she used my heart’s desire to maneuver me into place like a pawn on a chess board. You might be asking what a witch could possibly have that a vampire might want so badly that he would willingly let her play him for a fool. In my case, that answer was ridiculously simple—information. It was only a name and a location, but that name and that location meant everything to me. It was bribery, plain and simple.
