Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have Anything You Really Really Want! is a thought-provoking study about the power of positive thinking and the Christian faith. It follows the authors own personal journey of faith and discovery as he details how his Christian faith unleashed a positive powerin the attainment of personal, even material goals (including the acquisition of university degrees and a Rolls Royce!), but more significantly in the realisation of far-reaching goals: the discovery of his wife and ultimately the transition from university professor in South Africa to successful hotel-owner in Scotland. An important lesson in the experience of mid-life change is seen in the close dependence on Gods love and boundless supply for all needs, material and spiritual. From establishing an objective, working out a strategy, and using faith and initiative, this detailed thesis explores the essential principles for personal success and achievement and guides the reader step-by-step through the practical process of attaining his or her goals. In the final analysis, however, it asks whether it is the individual, or the invisible hand of Providence, which engineers the successeven to the extent of changing ones original goals, and changing oneself in the process.

Anything For You My family calls me a workaholic, but being driven and career-focused is what turned me into a hotshot CEO. Then Maddie Jennings walks into my life and makes me question all my choices. I can’t stand the thought of anyone else getting the reactions I do out of her when I boss her around, when I stand just a little too close. Pretending to ignore the way I make her feel is becoming her full-time job. Wild With You Just because I’m divorced doesn’t mean I can’t throw my best friend the wedding party of the year. Even if marriage is a mistake. Wedding planning is Lori Connor’s favorite thing, a vicarious escape from her life as a single mom. I doubt she’s ever had a client fluster her like I seem to. She says she’s supposed to keep my sarcasm in check, but I keep finding her eyes on my abs more than my best man’s speech. Maybe that’s how her guard got lowered enough to end up spending the night with me. But can I give her more? Meant For You I believe in rules to live by. It’s how I built my reputation as Will Connor—the tough cop, and how I’ve survived being one. I give a hundred percent to the job, I care for my family, and I never, ever ignore my instincts. So when Paige turns my head, all my senses go on high alert. I enjoy surprising her at every turn. She keeps expecting a jerk. Maybe it’s my confidence. Maybe it’s my looks. Paige grew up in a military family and knows full well the toll loving a man in uniform takes. Can I persuade her to take a chance on me? This collection contains the first 3 books in the USA Today Bestselling series The Connor Family: Anything For You, Wild With You, Meant For You

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long-awaited memoir from one of the most acclaimed radical writers in American literature. Described by the London Review of Books as one of “the most brilliant critics writing in America today,” Gary Indiana is a true radical whose caustic voice has by turns haunted and influenced the literary and artistic establishments. With I Can Give You Anything but Love, Gary Indiana has composed a literary, unabashedly wicked, and revealing montage of excursions into his life and work—from his early days growing up gay in rural New Hampshire to his escape to Haight-Ashbury in the post–summer-of-love era, the sweltering 1970s in Los Angeles, and ultimately his existence in New York in the 1980s as a bona fide downtown personality. Interspersed throughout his vivid recollections are present-day chapters set against the louche culture and raw sexuality of Cuba, where he has lived and worked occasionally for the past fifteen years. Connoisseurs will recognize in this—his most personal book yet—the same mixture of humor and realism, philosophy and immediacy, that have long confused the definitions of genre applied to his writing. Vivid, atmospheric, revealing, and entertaining, this is an engrossing read and a serious contribution to the genres of gay and literary memoir.

Book excerpt: An "im up, what more do you want from me?" sticker hideously controls the back of Ayden Kosacov's bedroom door. In his mind what started as a joke is slowly becoming his 'glorious and underrated mantra'. Ayden Kosacov is alive, and that is about all you can say. In the throws of a mundane and jejune life Ayden is slowly coming to the realization that if all his world is a stage than he wouldn't care if he did or did not miss the final scenes. Through an almost 'accidental' suicide attempt and the recovery that soon follows, Ayden learns that there is more to living than just being alive. Finding his way through diverse experiences and people he comes to terms with God, his family, and finally himself. "The Orphaned Anything's" style of writing is in the likes of Dennis Johnson ("Jesus' Son") and Dave Eggers ("A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius") and yet designed to give life lessons, encouragement, and hope like books by Paulo Coelho ("The Alchemist") and Donald Miller ("Blue Like Jazz").

Download Anything PDF Full Free by Jennie Allen and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2012-04-02 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safe. Comfortable. Happy. Words we all love. Feelings we want. Even crave. We may love God, but being that he's invisible, words like comfortable seem to feel better faster. We are all chasing something. Our hearts were made to run hard and fast after things that move us. But as a generation we are all beginning to stir and wake up, identifying that these words don't satisfy for long, especially when compared to God. If God is real, and we are going to live with Him forever, shouldn't He be everything? Caught in this familiar haze of worldly happiness and empty pursuits, Jennie Allen and her husband Zac prayed a courageous prayer of abandonment that took them on an adventure God had written for them. "God, we will do anything. Anything," Anything is a prayer of surrender that will spark something. A prayer that will move us to stop chasing things that just make us feel happy and start living a life that matters. A life that is... Surrendered. Reckless. Courageous. If we truly know a God worth giving anything for, everything changes. From Publisher's Weekly: "Bible teacher Allen (creator of the new Stuck DVD Bible study) comes out of the gate strong, displaying accessibility and purposefulness in her first book. With an eye to the fears and doubts teeming beneath the surface for many female churchgoers, she compels her audience to figure out what’s stopping them from using their God-given talents, and to be willing to do anything that God asks of them. By giving readers a glimpse of her own introspection and the interior life she’s revealed on her personal blog, she employs heartfelt honesty to connect with readers. Tales of loved ones who have taken the “journey to total abandonment” show how giving one’s life over to a higher purpose can “wreck” comfortable lives—and allow people to seize more important opportunities. Though the book is aimed at women who must balance their calling against more practical tasks like finishing the laundry and shopping at Target, Allen’s friendly yet urgent messages will have the wheels spinning in the minds of all audiences and may be the tough medicine that propels them to action." "Jennie Allen is a visionary, a girlfriend, and a Jesus-chaser. I can't think of three qualities I appreciate more in a woman. I loved this book from cover to cover and have been really contemplating the way a one-word prayer can affect one's heart and ministry in this life. I want to be an 'anything' kind of girl, and I appreciate and respect the example Jennie has set in pursuing God and what he desires in us. It's just a word on a paper, but it's a lifetime choice that can make all the difference. You in?" - Angie Smith Speaker, Women of Faith Author, I Will Carry You and What Women Fear

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am not a writer or an author of novels or essays. It always discourages me to see so many authors or writers, some established, others just attempting to make a name for themselves every time I enter a bookstore and see thousands and thousands of titles of novels or books or whatever the writer thinks it is worth writing about. Some are new editions, others neatly arranged in that heap called bargain purchases. It immediately put a stop to my idea of putting what I think is a subject that must be indelible, of everyday events that people talk about after seeing it on TV or coming across it on a page of a local or national newspaper. Something like Charles Krauthammer’s seminal essays in Things That Matter, Andy Rooney’s astute observations in Common Sense, or the provocative articles in humorist Dave Barry’s I Am Not Making This Up. But growing older in age and with the remaining future not so distant anymore, the impulse and the courage to tell anyone who is interested in what you have to say becomes compulsive as magma wanting to erupt from the bowels of the earth’s core. That is why these essays compiled and culled from the files of what I have kept these years writing editorials in magazines, from applications to a graduate school I never finished and received a diploma, and from other sources the names I can’t recall, from recent and contemporaneous events onerously repeated by pundits and so-called experts, became bound in a form you are holding today. The ideas may be past but still relevant. They might be current and dissecting them with the pros and cons of opinions providing the diversity we strive for. I do not claim originality in the subjects I write about. They might not be original, but I have burnished them with a different patina the reader never thought of colorizing. The research of some of the data was done via websites, different articles read, speeches made, my notes and recollections, and some older versions of articles I have written in some newsmagazines. For privacy reasons, I have changed the names in one essay in particular, as I was not successful in communicating with the persons despite attempts at doing so. I have also, to the best of my ability, adhered to the fair use doctrine using some data or quotations in some of my essays. In any case, I hope it is while your time, effort, and your trip to the bookstore to come up and peruse what is in your hands.

It’s about how to develop expertise in any area or domain: the conditions that have to be met, the steps you have to take, the things you have to do, and what to expect on your path to becoming an expert. The path it takes to become one of the best is very similar to becoming very good at something. The differences between becoming one of the best and becoming very good at something are: · The goals, · The amount of time and resources you are willing to put in, · And what you are willing to give up. The book covers the importance of passion and interest, talent, limitations, access, goals, plans, coaches, deliberate practice, and persistence, in everyday language. Academic theories are presented in a simplified, generalized form that applies to almost all areas or domains.

Political columnist Adele Freedman responds that sports writing has the easiest to impress readership of all. The disagreement leads to a wager. Each columnist will write the others columns under the others byline for the two weeks of the market research. Whoever gets the higher ratings writing as the other person will receive a weeks midwinter vacation in the Caribbean at the expense of the loser.
